Structured data that pairs a question with its answer explicitly, rather than leaving the pairing implied by layout.

What it means

Pre-paired questions and answers are the easiest thing on the web for an answer engine to reuse, because the work of deciding which text answers which question has already been done.

The part a short definition leaves out

Only mark up questions the page genuinely asks and answers. Wrapping marketing copy in FAQPage markup because it is a known format is how a site ends up with structured data that contradicts its own content.
